Week 1: The Articles of Faith

Preface

The Articles of Faith outline the 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. The Prophet Joseph Smoth first wrote them in a letter to John Wentworth, a newspaper editor, in response to Mr. Wentworth's request to know what members of the Church believed. They were subsequently published in Church periodicals. They are now regarded as scripture and included in the Pearl of Great Price.

As we study and teach our families about The Articles of Faith our testimonies will increase and our foundation in the gospel will become stronger. 

Lesson

1. Prayerfully select one of The Articles of Faith to share with and teach your family about. 
2. Talk with them about the importance of the principle taught within the article. 
3. Ask each member of the family to share their thoughts on the article that you have chosen.

Game Suggestions

The Articles of Faith Memory Game 

Tape each game piece on the wall (mix up well). Each person take a turn matching the article of faith with its keywords. Continue until each article of faith is matched up. It would be best to review the key words before starting the game. This is a good opportunity to review each Article of Faith beforehand.

Recipe for Treat 

Halloween Rice Krispy Treats

Ingredients:

1. 3 Tablespoons butter or margarine
2. 1 package (10oz) regular marshmallows
3. 6 cups Rice Krispy Treats cereal 

Directions 

1. In a large saucepan melt the butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. 
2. Add Rice Krispy Treats cereal. Stir until well coated. 
3. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x  9 x 2 inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day. 
4. Enjoy!
